The GoProject

The GoProject is a series of dances, videos, immersive experiences, and performances that incorporate GoPro action cameras into movement.

As a dance and technology artist, I consistently grapple with the question of physical identity in virtual spaces. My artistic inquiries are summed up well by the Margaret Morse quote: “Travelers on the virtual highways of an information society have at least one body too many.” I am interested in this “extra body” – what happens when the physical body is extraneous? How do concepts of embodiment change when “me” inhabits a space where bodies don’t matter? How and when do interactions in these spaces become more intimate and personal than that of “real life”?
